I would have to disagree with the consumer who apparently beleives he is in a league of his own and rates Epsons so highly. I did have a C82 and it printed great for a while, but yes, it did eventually stop printing and I never could reserect it. Just know that there may be an issue with these printers and to definitley register you printer if you you buy one. Hopefully you won't have any problems.

I've used Epson printers since they first made them, and been happy until the C82 and C86 came out. Both are junk. I've always used Genuine Epson cartridges, and had nothing but problems with clogged printheads. After using about 3 sets of cartridges in the C82 with no problems, it refused to print a single drop of ink from the 4th set, despite 50 or more attempts to clean the heads via the head cleaning utility. I even took the printer apart and cleaned the print heads by hand with rubbing alcohol--to no avail. These printers are not designed to be serviced by the end user--no matter how skilled one is mechanically. The C86 has just started the same problems as the C82. It has gone through nearly a complete set of new cartridges (according to the ink usage utility) without printing a single drop of ink on paper. I will no longer waste my time to take apart Epson's Ink Distribution Devices in an attempt to get my money's worth out of $64 worth of overpriced ink.

Funny, how users simply write something as a ''review,'' when it is nothing but a flame of one manufacturer, or another. Epson is one of THE most popular and reliable printer manufacturers you'll find. I have recommended them to my clients, sold them to others; my own personal collection of scanners/printers consist of 5-6 Epsons, each of which still work without any problems...and these go back MANY years. As long as you get the right printer for the necessary job(s), keep printer drivers updated and know how to at least do simple maintenance to your systems, you won't have such problems as ''both'' of the NOV '06 ''reviews'' claimed. Printer heads will clog quite easily, if you use refill ''kits'' and poor quality cartridge replacements and know nothing about what manufacturers make reliable cartridge replacements. Clogged print heads are a fairly simple affair to clean, though...again, IF you know what you're doing. Lastly, you two are out of your your respective leagues.
REVIEW BY: Time to Switch Reviewed Nov 16, 2006
Epson printers are designed to fail - the printer heads clog. Have had six of them do just that in the past 2 years and I give up. Switched to HP - the printer heads are part of the ink cartridge and the problem goes away.
