For $1799 getting a dlp 734 series and a Harman Kardan cp-55 is quite a bargain. Don't read the other reviews of this tv. The owners claim they've had the tv for 13 months. That's impossible. It came out in May/June making it at most 6 months old. I just got the tv and the picture is phenomenal. For the price this is a great tv and much more reasonably priced then Plasma/LCD. So far no problems with the TV. Many, many color adjustments possible which will let me get the tv exactly how I want it. I will review again in 6 months to update the status of the tv.

I've owned the 57-inch model for 13 months. I've been waiting for weeks on a part called an optical block or something like that. They want $800 for the part alone. The lamp is also about to go and that runs $250. A new set is not that much more money now. DLP is not a good idea. Also, I have the set and everything near it on an expensive sine wave UPS power conditioner. I'd hate to think what it would be like without that protection.

I gave the value of one star because I have owned this product 13 months. In this time frame I had 6 service calls. 3 lamps, 1 motherboard, 2 thermal sensors, & a partridge in a pear tree. My down time is between 2-3 weeks waiting on parts/servicemen,etc.= dwn time of 2 1/2 months! Also Mitsubishi will offer you nothing but parts. They will not replace this lemon TV all they will say is we will fix it and take it from there. Consumer Reports rated this product as #1 for DLP TV's but I say they are Junk!

HDTV
HDTV (High Definition) television monitors reveal either 720 progressive (720p), or a minimum of 1080 interlaced lines, known as 1080i. An HDTV will show 540 lines at a time. These resolutions create extraordinarily sharp, lifelike images as well as the truest and most vivid colors ever seen on a television screen.
EDTV
EDTV stands for Enhanced Definition Television. EDTV monitors display at least 480 progressive lines (480p). Because EDTV shows more lines simultaneously than SDTV, its pictures are sharper, richer and more realistic.
SDTV
Standard Definition TV is what’s rapidly becoming old-fashioned television. Although SDTV offers a decent picture we’ve grown accustomed to, it features up to 480 interlaced lines (480i), but can show only 240 of them at any given time. Although SDTV produces a sharp picture and good color, its performance is dramatically inferior to HDTV or EDTV.
LCD or Plasma Television?
The Inside Scoop on these Two Innovative Technologies
Flat screen televisions are everywhere! And it’s easy to see why. Plasma and LCD displays are elegant, save space and boast gorgeous images that are rich in color and texture. However, if you are thinking of consigning your CRT television set to backup status and hopping aboard the flat-panel television bandwagon, you have a major choice to make between LCD and plasma. Each technology has its advantages and drawbacks, and this article explores these factors.
